The Molicel P42A is the 21700 cell that most high-power mods are built around: 4200mAh, 45A continuous, and the same low internal resistance that made the P26A the default 18650. If your mod takes a 21700, this is the one to put in it.
Capacity and current, together. Most cells give you one or the other. The P42A holds 60 percent more than a P26A and can still deliver 45A continuously, so it suits everything from a 30W all-day setup to a 200W dual-cell mod.
Rated honestly. Molicel publishes a full datasheet and the numbers match independent tests. There's no marketing rating on the wrap.
Runs cool. Low resistance means less heat in the cell at high draw, which is easier on the mod and on the cell's lifespan.
Fits mods built for flat-top 21700 cells. A 21700 is wider and longer than an 18650 and will not fit an 18650 mod. Chargers and cases we stock with bays long enough for a 21700:
Never carry a loose cell. A 21700 stores a lot of energy. In a pocket with keys or coins it can short, heat up, and vent. Use a case, every time.
Check the wrap. A torn wrap or missing top insulator ring exposes the cell's negative can right next to the positive terminal. Retire or rewrap it before use.
Flat-top only. The P42A has a flat positive end, which is what nearly every 21700 mod expects. Button-top cells are longer and may not close the battery door.
Pairs stay together. In a dual-cell mod, buy two at once, charge them together, and use them together.
Charge in a dedicated charger rather than through the mod's USB port when you can, and never leave cells charging unattended.
