The Nitecore NEW i2 is a two-bay charger for the lithium-ion cells in a mod and the AA and AAA batteries in everything else. It figures out what you've put in each slot, charges the two bays independently, and shows progress on a row of LEDs. Simple, reliable, and the charger we've handed across the counter the longest.
It knows what it's charging. Drop in an 18650 and it charges to 4.2V; drop in a Ni-MH AA and it charges to 1.48V. Each bay works on its own, so a mod cell and a flashlight battery can share the charger.
Better for cells than a mod's USB port. External charging gives each cell a proper charge and cutoff, and lets you keep a second pair topped up while the first is in use.
Wall or car. AC input for the wall, 12V DC input for a car adapter.
Built-in protections. Reverse polarity and short-circuit protection, and a charging time limit so a faulty cell can't sit on the charger forever.
Charges the mod cells we stock. Flat-top 21700 cells fit as well as 18650s:
Flat-top and button-top both fit. The spring-loaded bay takes either, so this is the charger for a button-top cell that a mod won't accept.
Inspect before you charge. A torn wrap or a dented cell shouldn't go in any charger. Retire it.
Don't walk away. Charge on a hard surface, not a bed or couch, and unplug when the LEDs show full. Store cells in a case rather than loose in a drawer or pocket.
One cell charges faster than two. A single cell gets up to 1,000mA; with both bays filled each gets 500mA, so a 2600mAh 18650 from empty takes several hours. Either rate is easy on the cell.
